York, Mariners Or Stags In For Green?

Last updated : 19 May 2011 By Neil Hobbs

Paul Green looks set to Link up with York City it Scott Kerr’s admiration in the York press is anything to go by but only if Grimsby or Mansfield do not get there first.  Paul is a useful addition to any squad in the Blue Square Bet Premier. The versatile right, centre and left back can also play in defensive midfield; a position Aston Villa used him for prior to John Deehan pouncing.  The Imps, facing huge budget cuts will see local rivals York, Grimsby and Mansfield pick our bones with all three set to enjoy bigger budgets than our good selves.

Paul Green is a model pro with age and experience on his side so it was a surprise to see him left out by Steve Tilson. Greeny battled back from a career threatening birth defect (hip) that required an operation and came back stronger than ever at the end of last and this season.

Paul is good enough to play higher but will undoubtedly do a job  in the BSP.  Tamworth would take the Brummie nearer home, but he is settled here and could opt for York or Grimsby who were interested in him last season. Mansfield will be a big fish this year and cannot be ruled out although Duncan Russell’s departure has held things up there. . Paul is in no rush with a host of clubs interested and may wait to see if the right man gets the Stags job.

Thanks and goodbye Greeny.
