Weddings? Well The Bulls, Cobblers, Bees, Brewers & Imps Rings are Twitching

Last updated : 29 April 2011 By Neil Hobbs

Its on, the penultimate point of salvation for Barnet, Hereford, Northampton Town, Burton and our beloved Imps. Yes its the right royal relegation rumble and just as Impdom expects so do the all but soulless cobblers, the Viagra powered Brewers, the hapless Hatters and Hereford who are in a no Bull mood. Ha ha but we have trapdoor Broughton in our team lads and he has more form than a Silvio Berlusconi RSVP list.

Oh yes,  we are all touching cloth down around the trapdoor with the Blue Square breeze a pleasant relief from the uncomfortable smells coming from the home and away ends of methane fuelled Npower league 2. Super injunctions? Here at the proper end of football we blow every chance we get and still come up smelling of roses.

This Saturday for instance sees Barnet and Northampton the two most afflicted, set the challenge of defeating playoff contenders.  The Bees are at Accrington - this season the bottle boys are big time Charlies and nudging 2,000 at home on occaisions -  and this one could see a goalfest.   There will be a much bigger gate at Sixfields for the League's youngest derby (Just 36 miles) as the Cobblers entertain Stevenage who still have the scent of the Blue Squre in their nostrils.

Burton and the Imps travel to two sides both becalmed my mid table mediocrity and with draws on the cards. Oxford shot themselves in the foot with 2 own goals to lose 1-3 to the Imps recently and have drawn their last 4 games. A 4-5-1 and a smash and grab or draw will be a realistic outcome for the Imps ahead of Aldershot on the final day.

Burton have been climbing the table with hard earned draws and will probably get at least a point at Southend who have nothing to play for and drew 0-0 with Macclesfield last time out.   That put Macc on 51 points along with Bradford and Cheltenham, who overcame the Imps in a 6 pointer that sees us still involved at the bottom.

Never mind a win at Oxford – in our Lincoln University sponsored shirt – will really put Impdom on the national stage.
