Lion Grimes Chimes Seven In Seven - Shades On Here comes Somma

Last updated : 23 January 2011 By Neil Hobbs

The mercury is certainly rising for Millwall goal machine Ashley Grimes. The on-loan Lion has banged in seven goals in his last seven games for the Imps thanks to a fantastic treble against Stockport County.   The lad who is fast becoming this season Davide Somma (Leeeds United) looks like a twenty a season man. Vic Erzantarz goes through his marvellous millenary achievement – a hat trick at the Hatters to you and me.

Oh Somma time and the scorin' is easy............

Goals against Morecambe, Hereford, Bradford, Hereford and the Stockport treble have shown how vital Grimes could be to the Imps chances of staying up. Steve Tilson has reassuringly hired the goal machines services until the end of the season at least.

Let's relive the treble shall we…………….

5 mins On Five Del boy Facey gets into the rhyme time groove heading on a hopeful punt down the right hand channel. In one movement Grimes swivels and lobs a contender for goal of the season home from 28 yards. Forget Beckham or Van Basten – watch this five times and you won’t believe your Mince Pies.

60 mins. Cometh the hour cometh the brace as Ashley swept home McCallum’s unselfish square ball from 6 yards.  Gavin deserves some praise having held off two and had made another not to shabby all-round contribution

65 mins Howell took on McCallum’s through ball and went charging through the middle only for Glennon to deny him with a diving parry. Fortunately man of the moment Grimes was there to side foot home from 10 yards to claim the match ball.

Tilly is not silly and took Grimes off on 83 minutes. He and we know that the job is not over just yet. The Imps are still bottom albeit with games in hand; players like Grimes will be needed if we are to climb out of the relegation zone for good.
