Gary King On Trial At Accrington

Last updated : 02 July 2009 By Gary Hutchinson

King was released in May by Peter Jackson after he failed to show any return on his much talked about potential, and has surfaced as a trialist at Accrington Stanley.

King scored just one goal for City in a win over Brentford in the 2007-08 season, but failed to push on from there. Jacko had high hopes for the youngster as he started the first game of last season. However after several inept performances he was dropped, and eventually farmed out on loan to Boston.

Rumours circulated that his 'Billy Big Time' attitude won him few friends at Boston, and eventually he returned to Lincoln allegedly without Boston knowledge after being dropped by Tommy Taylor.

King will be up against former Macclesfield and Bury striker Matthew Tipton who is also looking to win a contract with Accrington. Tipton managed 17 goals for Hyde before a move to droylsden where he managed to get the only goal of an FA Cup giantkilling of Darlington.
