Gannon, Stockport & The Relegation Rumble

Last updated : 21 March 2011 By Neil Hobbs

With just 8 games to go Stockport County look all but doomed with tough asks against Southend, Wycombe, Shrewsbury and Port Vale. A 0-1 defeat at Aldershot on Saturday left the Hatters two points off Barnet and 5 off Burton Albion with Hereford three points better off still.

In a further interesting twist Jim Gannon   parted company with Vale today, could he be about to come and save the day? Its been rumoured that today’s events would come to pass for a while and that County have been waiting in the wings according to the grapevine.

It is all looking rosier by the minute for the Brewers who have an enviable 5 games in hand as well as the L2 Cup final home game against Barnet on 2nd April. That 6-pointer could well decide the fate of both sides.  Hereford, one place above them also have games in hand over the bottom two and go to Port Vale tomorrow. Barnet go to Aldershot who broke Hatters hearts on Saturday with a 93rd minute winner from Spencer.
