Burton, Barnet and Stockport All Win in L2 Relegation Rumble

Last updated : 23 April 2011 By Neil Hobbs

Results all but went against us with Burton, Barnet & Stockport winning with just Hereford losing 0-2 at home to Shrewsbury and Cheltenham 0-1 at home to Macclesfield. Bradford and Jacko are right back in it and the question is will 50 points really be enough.

So on the bright side at least one ex-Imp did us a favour as Maccs won at the Robins, our opponents on Monday. Well done Simmo, the miracle mission is accomplished with the 50 point bullseye a tribute to Richard Butchers memory. Simmo’s latest young find and big signing last summer, Tyrone Barnet,  got the winner.

Another ex-Imp, Anthony Elding got both goals in Stockport County’s incredible lifesaving 2-1 win at Port Vale on a day of surprises. A McLeod hat trick at Gillingham ended their record of 17 matches unbeaten as Barnet stung them 4-2 in their own back yard for the performance of the week.

Burton move up to 17th after a 2-1 win at Aldershot thanks to Zola’s 74th minute winner. Bradford meanwhile are 19th after losing 3-0 at Accy on 48 points with Cheltenham, Burton and Burton.  Hereford and Lincoln are on 47 and Northampton 45. Although the right side of the trapdoor, the Cobblers are now just a point above the Bees. If you are an Imp it is squeaky bottom time with the goal difference issue becoming more of a factor by the week.

A win over Cheltenham on Monday is a must.
