28 year old Brown impressed during a trial game with City back in February, and had been released by Gillingham at the end of last season.

Brown is an ex England schoolboy who has also featured for Swindon and Gillingham, where he linked up with City assistant boss Iffy Onuora.

Brown has also featured for Bristol City, QPR and Torquay and can operate in midfield as well as at left back. He is the first signing in a week that is expected to yeild two more, a goal keeper and a much anticipated striker.

The signing of Brown completes the first team defence for The Imps, with Paul Gren, Lee Beevers and Jan Kovacs his expected defensive team.
