All but one youngster, has been told they are being released. A whole list of third year scholars have faced the axe – with the likes of Daniel Bent, Grant Pinkey and Chris McConville all to depart at the season's end. Promising centre back Gary Cochrane has also been released, along with the remaining third-year scholars.

Goalkeeper Darren Horrigan was told he was the only third year scholar to be offered a professional contract - on a less than average wage, it is understood.

The majority of the lads were made fully aware that their release is due to the financial situation at the club, and not necessarily due to their football ability.

The club are yet to confirm this on their official website, but Planet Imp has a very strong belief that the youngsters were told of their fate yesterday.

More on this story when possible…
