Will Simon Yeo add player of the year to his bulging sack of fans accolades?
After the thrills and spills of another League Two season, its time for fans to decide which Imp has impressed them the most – Its Player Of The Year Time. Who is your player of the year? There’s been plenty of hero’s throughout the current campaign with defenders and forwards alike impressing regularly. LCM is giving you the chance to vote for your top Imp of 2004/05. Before you click back to the main menu to vote, let us take your through our list of the top candidates.

Alan Marriott: Mazza has once again been outstanding this season, consistently keeping clean sheets and making good stops. In recent games he hasn’t been troubled too much, but when needed he can be relied on to make a stop.

Matt Bloomer: Never one to steal the headlines Bloomer has had a consistent campaign. However he isn’t likely to figure in too many minds in the future after the arrival of Lee Beevers and his double slip in the 3-2 reverse at home to Wycombe.

Kevin Sandwith: Put in a good display for the camera’s on Monday night, but the left sided youngster hasn’t been too popular after a series of sloppy outings.

Ben Futcher: Tall defender who has gone from strength to strength despite his broken cheekbone this season. Injury failed to dampen Futchers appetite for the game at the heart of the Imps defence, a defence that looks a sharper unit with him in the ranks.

Jamie McCombe: Defender or Striker? Keith thinks possibly striker and the fans think defender. Has performed well all season and is a threat in the air.

Paul Morgan: Definite front-runner for the award. He’s always reliable, always strong and always thinking. Dwarfed by his comrades only in height Morgan always stands out as the calming influence at the heart of the Imps rear guard. Another key player at the back Captain Morgan leads by example and the fans appreciate his hard and honest endeavour.

Gareth McCauley: Settled in well and attracted interest from higher up the ranks, McAuley looks a steal for the £10,000 Keith coughed up in pre season for his services. Equally as effective in the centre or on the right McAuley could be a dark horse for the honour.

Richard Butcher: despite having bags of talent Butch hasn’t had the same impact going forward this year as in the previous season. However his work in the midfield is performed tirelessly and relentlessly and despite his barren spell in front of goal he isn’t afraid to continue trying. Butcher is an unsung hero in the middle of the park.

Peter Gain: Sublime skills and enough potential to bath an elephant. Suffers from dips in form, but always has a trick up his sleeve to beat opponents. He’s won player of the year before and with his skill it’s not hard to see why.

Gary Taylor Fletcher: Came close to breaking a goal scoring record at the beginning of the season scoring in seven consecutive games. Hasn’t scored as many as he’d like but has in fact created twelve Lincoln goals this season, amongst the top five creative players in League Two. His sublime goals always thrill fans; none more so than his elegant chip over Paul Musslewhite at Sincil Bank.

Simon Yeo: Broke aforementioned record in a goal-scoring blitz that has yielded 23 goals so far this term. He’ll shoot from anywhere and pops up in key areas from nowhere. Despite being 31 Yeo continues to out pace and out think players from across the league, winning the heart of every Imps fan along the way. Red-hot favourite for the award after becoming the first player to hit 20 goals in a season since Gareth Ainsworth. Best remembered this year for a great hat trick away at Grimsby.

Francis Green: To say it would be a travesty if Green won the award over Yeo and Fletcher would not be a slur on Franny. His energetic and intelligent displays impress the Imps faithful as much as his aimless performances anger them. Scores a few, creates a few and causes problems with his pace.

There are other players who may be voted for, but that is the crux of the squad that has taken the Imps to within a whisker of League One football. Now click back to the home page and make your choice!
