Staying put - Imps saviour Keith
Imps boss Keith Alexander has denied he has been approached by Second Division outfit Grimsby Town over the vacant manager's position at Blundell Park.

Player-manager Paul Groves was dismissed by the Mariners on Monday, just 24 hours after their embarrassing 6-0 hammering at Oldham. Grimsby have slipped to 20th in Division Two, having suffered the indignity of an 8-1 defeat at the hands of Hartlepool earlier in the season. Graham Rodger has taken temporary charge.

However ever since, Alexander has been widely touted as Groves' successor.

"There has been no contact between Grimsby Town and myself. It's laughable how these things come out," said Alexander "I'm ready to sign a new contract at Lincoln and I want to stay and finish the job I have started."

"I don't think we're a million miles away from where I want to be and that's
all I'm concentrating on at the moment.

"There's nothing more I can say."

News of Alexanders intention to stick with the Imps will be a massive boost to all connected at the club. Having led City to their first major final appearance in their history last year, indications are that feat could be repeated with a play off appearance at the end of this campaign. Keith is rapidly becoming a hero at Sincil Bank, and to surrender him to near rivals Grimsby would be a sickening blow. With this now seemingly not happening, Imps fans can sleep easy in their beds once again!
