Manager of Month curse strikes again

One unhappy man - Keith Alexander
It was only City's second defeat in 14 League Two matches but without a doubt one of the most frustrating having dominated the encounter despite being below their best.

"That's our worst performance for 14 games," said the City manager "We never got started and deserved nothing, which is not something I've been able to say about these players for some time. Sometimes you have games when you are poor and can't do anything about it - last night proved to be one of those games."

City have an important clash against John Wards Cheltenham on Saturday and Keith knows it has to be better than last night.

"Now it's a case of looking at the match video over the next couple of days and going back to the drawing board."

Keith was dismissive of Macclesfields threat in the oncoming battle for play off spots.

"I don't care what anyone says, I don't think Macclesfield are a team we have to worry about when it comes to challenging for a place in the top three - yet we've come here and lost 2-1, which is disappointing.

"We had been on a great run - just one defeat in 13 games. But we went to one of our closest rivals and failed to come away with anything, so we have to pick ourselves up.

"I've been very complimentary of the players in the last couple of months because they've done well. However this is our worst performance for a long while. It was certainly a game I think we should have got something out of.
