Keith blasts back after 'misleading' press reports

Not happy with local press - Keith
Chairman Rob Bradley announced that extra funds had been made available to Keith on Monday and this could be used to strengthen the team. However the news was reported in local press as Keith having been given a '£100,000+ transfer kitty' and came just days after a report suggesting certain players may be unhappy with the lack of funds filtering down to the current squad. Both reports seemed a little sensationalist and led to Keith responding in his usual no-nonsense manner.

"Its a very misleading headline and I'm very disapointed with that. Whilst its fair to say that my budget for next season has increased, I certainly haven't been given a £100,000 transfer budget and people shouldn't get it into their minds that we are going to spend that amount on players"

Keith underlined the need to recognise the current players contribution to the excellent league position:

"I've only got to give four or five people a relatively good pay rise and the additional funds at my disposal are gone. We need to look at players out of contract and look at the ones we want to keep to sort out their money accordingly."

Keiths skill in the transfer market is well renowned with City having their strongest squad for years assembled on a shoestring budget that even Scrooge would have found difficult to work with. It is this ability that Keith hopes to draw from to get the most out of his money.

"Of course I'm trying to strengthen the squad and of course I will try and do it as prudently as possible as I have been succesful over the past couple of years. What I don't want to be seen as doing is misleading the public and our supporters."
