Alexander in the Mariners frame?

Keith - Man in Demand
Paul Groves was relieved of his duties as Grimsby Town manager yesterday afternoon following an abysmal run that came to a head in his sides 6-0 defeat in front of 13,000 fans at Oldhams Boundary Park.
Meanwhile just 25 miles down the A46 Nottingham Forest were firing their manager Paul Hart after a 14 game winless streak that has seen them drop into division ones bottom three. With these two relatively big clubs both managerless, will either come fishing for our very own Keith Alexander?
Forest will almost certainly be too big a club for Alexander, and the word is the Joe Kinnear will be taking the helm at the City Ground.
However Keith spent a while on the playing staff at Grimsby Town, and worked there under ex Imp Alan Buckley. Its no secret that Keith is one of the lowest paid managers in the league... could a move back to the fishing town be on the cards?
It seems that Grimsby chairman Peter Furneaux is keen on Alexander. With Keith not having signed his new contract, rumours are rife that he could be on his way to Blundell Park.
Groves - Sacked

Furneaux also poured scorn on rumours another ex Imps return to Town, saying he hadn't spoken to Alan Buckley in over two years. He also added with regards the managers position that 'its up to the right man to apply, and the board to settle on that right man'.
So how likely is it that Keith will become a Mariner? His return from illness was a poignant moment for the big man, with 7,000 fans chanting his name before the Boston game on saturday. With the rappor that he has built up, and the adulation he gets from the Imps faithful, it seems unlikely Keith will be applying to manage a club in free fall. Theres every possibility that City will be pushing for a division two place by the end of the season, and it will be a major challenge for Grimsby to avaoid being the team the Imps replace. With that in mind it would seem sensible for Keith to remain at the Bank and finish the job he has started so brightly.
