Macclesfield secured a 2-2 draw at Lincoln City but were denied their first away win of the season by two tremendous late saves from Imps keeper Alan Marriott.

Town look in complete control after taking the lead in first half stoppage time, but were then caught out after conceding a late free-kick.

Lincoln drew level and then went quickly in front, only for Macclesfield to level things with nine minutes left.

Macclesfield had the first chance to go in front after just 13 minutes when a free-kick from Alan Navarro found Andrew Teague but, from six yards out, the defender headed straight at Marriott.

Navarro then set up Clyde Wijnhard who turned his marker but shot into the side netting from close range.

Wijnhard had another chance in the 34th minute when Kevin Sandwith headed down a free-kick but, from close in, the striker was unable to put the ball into the net.

Macclesfield went in front in first half stoppage time from a 30-yard pass from Danny Whitaker which released Wijnhard and he hit his shot across Marriott into the bottom corner.

Almost immediately Lincoln went close to conceding a second goal when, an attempted clearance by Nat Brown was heading for the top corner of his own net, until Marriott pulled off an excellent save.

Lincoln improved in the second half and a diving save by Alan Fettis prevented Gary Birch from scoring an equaliser.

But seven minutes later Navarro fouled Birch at the edge of the box and picked up a yellow card. Dean Keates floated in the resultant free-kick which was glanced home by Gareth McAuley.

Lincoln went in front 10 minutes from time when Brown picked up a loose ball 35 yards out and coolly lobbed Fettis.

But Macclesfield swept up field and equalised within seconds. Navarro's shot hit the post and Teague put the rebound into the net.

Marriott saved Lincoln from defeat in stoppage time with an excellent diving save to prevent Jonathan Parkin and Navarro from getting a winner.
