Lincoln City 2 Hereford United 1

It took a Dany N'Guesson brace to decide the game, but the scoreline doesn't tell the full tale of a superb contest against the promotion chasing Bulls.

City had the best of a quiet half hour, but the game exploded into life on the half hour mark. Scott Kerr was shown a straight red card for what the referee percieved to be a two footed lunge. The victim, Clint Easton certainly reacted with intense anger, but with over an hour to play City had just 10 players on the park.

Jamie Forrester was then substituted for youngster Martin Pembleton in order to balance the midfield, and within a minute City were 1-0 up. Dany N'Guesson sliced through the Hereford defence and slotted home coolly from inside the eighteen yard box.

Hereford offered very little for the rest of the half and it was City who went in at half time on top.

However Hereford came out with a renewed sense of purpose and threw everything forward, and it finally paid dividends in the 62nd minute when Gary Hooper poked the ball home from close range.

City looked rattled and with a lack of expereience in the side may have folded. Martin Pembleton, Shane Clarke, Danny Hone, Lennel John Lewis are all in their teens or just out, with Dany N'Guesson and Paul Green also young players. Despite this apparent lack of experience they showed a real sense of commitment and desire, and it came as no surprise when the Imps retook the lead. A pass from the impressive Pembleton found Ben Wright who was fouled in the area by Clint Easton. Easton was lucky to be shown only a yellow card, but luck wasn't on Herefords side as N'Guesson stepped up and nonchalontly stroked the ball past the keeper for 2-1.

City looked comfortable for the remaining few minutes, and kept the opposition at bay to record a victory that all but assures their league status.
