Lincoln's foreign legion scored the goals that gave the Imps their first away win of the season at The Saunders Honda stadium.

Hungarian Janos Kovacs and Romanian Adrian Patulea both found the net to give Peter Jackson's side a much-needed boost in a game that was not made easy by a difficult swirling wind.

Both sides struggled early on an it took until the 22nd minute for the first shot in anger when Lee Frecklington had a shooting opportunity just inside the box, but his side-foot finish was blocked by a great challenge from Kevin Roberts.

Chester keeper John Danby was called into action in the 29th minute when a cross from the right from Paul Green found Patulea at the far post and his low effort was beaten away by the keeper.

The visitors opened the scoring in first-half added-time when a wicked in-swinging corner from Scott Kerr was nodded goalwards by Kovac and took a touch off the back of Damien Mozika's before ending up in the net.

Green rifled a long-range effort just past the post in the 53rd minute as the Imps looked the most likely.

And Dany N'Guessan wasted a glorious chance a minute later when he headed over from a corner when presented with a chance just under the crossbar.

The advantage was doubled in the 57th minute by Patulea, who took his time before firing in the bottom corner after good work by N'Guessan who had picked him out from the byline.

Substitute Paul Taylor had a rare chance for the home side but scuffed his shot well wide of the target and at the other end, Aaron Brown forced a safe from Danby with a decent left-footed effort.

Six minutes from time Chester were unlucky when a pile-driver from Laurence Wilson from 25 yards out struck the crossbar.
