Bradford City 1 Imps 2 A View From The Stacey West

Last updated : 01 February 2011 By Neil Hobbs

Goals from Facey and Mad Dog McCallum ensured the Imps beat Bradford City in their own back yard tonight by two goals to one. The playoffs may seem a little exotic and fanciful, but this is ceratinly promotion form with  four wins in four games for a side three points adrift at the foot of the table just a fortnight ago.

And the games just cant come thick and fast enough when you are on a roll can they?

But To The Game Footy Fans To The game……

The Imps were behind inside three minutes thanks to Dave Syers playing in Hanson who hammered home from 6 yards into the top corner.  The Bantams exploited the spaces down the flanks in the opening fifteen minutes with a McCallum snapshot the only response of note.

Two Gareth Evans corners were then comfortably dealt with by Hunt, imperious in his favoured central defensive role. Carson then saved well from Syers as the Imps began to get a foothold in the game. Facey was urging his young charges forward and led by example with a long range effort that just cleared the bar.  Kanyuka almost opens his account for the Imps directing Howell’s free kick just wide.

The Imps then got a deserved equaliser when Hoyt crossed for Facey to head home on 41 minutes. Howell also went close before Carson kept the Imps in the game with a fantastic save from Evans. So 1-1 it was at half time no thanks to a referee that got more wrong

Ali Foseini then replaced Kanyuka with Howell moving into the centre of midfield as the Imps went for the jugular.   O’Keefe was denied another sensational goal when McLaughlan saved superbly and then Howell went close with another smart drive after good work from Mad Dog McCallum, in his prime down the flank. A rising drive from Mad Mac also just cleared the bar from 15 yards as the Imps continued to dominate.

Omar Daley then took on the world to show what he is capable of but drove wide as an end to end affair ensued. McCallum on the one flank left men in his wake whilst Hoyte marauded the other along with Ali Foseini. Both had decent efforts as the Imp seemed the side most likely to win it.  On came Flynn to conjure something with Worthington making way yet the Imps were the side playing the football with Grimes starting to look lively.

Carson really does install confidence in the Imps back four, claiming well at corners. But just as importantly he is constantly marshalling and urging them on. McLaughlan at the other end saved well from a Hoyte drive with Grimes looking for scraps. Ali Foseini then picked a pocket on the centre line,   turned his man and raced into the Bradford half. He played to Grimes who had a dig only for Mad Dog McCallum to hammer home a well deserved goal. Outstanding game Mad Dag outstanding goal and it was 2-1 to the Mighty Imps.

Evans then had a long range effort that went straight down a well positioned Carson’s throat before Dayley was thankfully withdrawn much to the displeasure of the home fans. Opinions clearly vary with the Imps tails clearly up and Taylor oblivious to 10.000 boos.  So 4 in 4 for the smiling Imps who can continue to look upwards whilst Bradford Look down with a frown.
