THANKYOU MR FORAN

Imps fans everywhere gave a huge sigh of release today as they learned that for this season at least, the spectre of relegation from the football league has diminished somewhat. Their thanks must come in no small part to a player not even remotely involved with Lincoln City at all. Richie Foran popped up in the Halifax Town box in the last minute to give The Cumbrians a share of the points, and leave Halifax 9 points behind City and Bristol Rovers. With only four games left in their season, and a maximum of 12 possible points Halifax will have to pull out all the stops and gain 4 straight wins. Destiny is in the hands of City today at Exeter. A point will see them increase the pressure on Halifax, and a win will see them completely safe, having a vastly superior goal difference. The Imps players will be acutely aware of this fact, and have only themselves to blame if they finish bottom.

In the Conference last night, Boston managed a late draw themselves in a jittery game against Barnet at York Street. Jim Rodwell managed a 90th minute equalizer to give themselves some breathing room over Dagenham who play this afternoon, after Barnet had taken the lead late in the game. In terms of table placings Dagenham have a tougher run in with only 3 of their remaining fixtures at home. They are 6 points behind Boston and have played 2 game less. Only Dagenham can fulfill their own destiny now
