Who Is Patrick Kanyuka

Last updated : 26 January 2011 By Neil Hobbs

Former QPR, Northampton Town and Swindon Centre back Patrick Kanyuka is set to become Steve Tilson’s first permanent signing subject to international clearance.  The lad has done enough in his recent trial with the Imps to warrant a deal until the end of the season and will be given the no 40 shirt.

The Congolese centre half is a giant at 6’ 4” and weighs in at a muscular but mobile 13 stone.  Patrick has good pace and has been plying his trade in Adi Patulea’s homeland Romania with  CFR  Cluj and latterly on loan at FC Unirea Alba Iulia.

His League experience encompasses a dozen Championship outings with QPR after graduating from their youth academy; then 20 League 1 outings at Swindon who released him in the summer of 2008.  Northampton gave him an initial  3 month deal in October 2009 that was later extended until May 2010. Things started well with him playing 3 League 2 and 1 FA Cup appearance against Southampton in November 2009 before he suddenly fell from favour and failed to get a game for the rest of the season.  The Cobblers released him at the end of the season and CFR signed him.
