Who Is Monkey Hanger Graeme Lee Then?

Last updated : 19 January 2011 By Neil Hobbs

With Sangare off to Oxford United  Notts County star Graeme Lee is back on the radar. The 32 year old ex Hartlepool, Sheffield Wednesday, Doncaster Rovers and Bradford City centre half has been told he can leave by Paul Ince, but wages and politics appear to have blocked a loan deal.

But Ince now appears to be on the verge of agreeing a fee to pay the lad up allowing the Imps to offer acceptable terms.  A lump sum softens the blow of a wage reduction, especially if a two year deal is offered to a player who is 33 in May.

Lee was a cult hero at the Monkey Hangers (Hartlepool) playing as a centre half and take no prisoners striker.  Lee was Bradford City Captain before being signed by Munto finance backed County and played a key role that Championship season.

Lee actually started this season as first choice centre back for County but Ince does not seem to like him and wants to free up some of his budget. A result for the Imps perhaps despite the sticky issue over the Lady Imps?

At 6’ 2” and 13 ½ stone Graeme is a quality centre half whose only Achilles heal is pace – something Moses Swaibu has in abundance. He is also a threat at both ends of the pitch averaging a goal every 10 games throughout his career.
