McCombe saga to drag on

Brian Laws continues to be a thorn in Lincolns side as he holds up Jamie McCombes impending transfer to the Imps.

McCombe (21) was all set to join the Imps in time for the derby clash at Sincil Bank with Boston United. After agreeing personal terms it seemed McCombe was destined to become a City player. However Brian Laws had other idea's as he blocked the move.
It seems that McCombe agent has a letter signed by Scunthopre United chief executive Chris Holland stating that McCombe was available on a free transfer. Laws it seems has other idea's claiming that 'injuries' and 'suspensions' mean McCombe must remain an Iron player for the time being.

"Jamie is not going anywhere at this present time," said Iron boss Brian
Laws. "We've got injuries and at the time of letting him talk to other clubs
we were free from injury. Now things are different. We have given him it in
writing that he can talk to other clubs, but that's dependant on whether we
agree to it."

There was a little light at the end of the tunnel though as Laws also stated that "if Jamie McCombe comes out and says he doesn't want to play for
Scunthorpe United any more, then it is a different matter."

Craig Allardyce, the players agent, has now faxed the football leagues player administration department requesting that a tribunal is arranged or demanding that Scunthopre release him from his contract. Either way it seems unlikely that the 6'5 defender will be added to the squad for the Pilgrims visit on Saturday.

Laws and Lincoln City have a rather tempestuos relationship, having clashed many times in the past. Laws has claimed that City boss Keith Alexander isn't a gentleman (a view hardly echoed by the footballing world following Keiths recent illness), and has passed various comments about the state of the Sincil Bank pitch and the behaviour of the City players.
With the Lincoln v Scunthorpe clash just a week away it seems Mr Laws is once again attempting to turn up the heat between the two sides.
