Mazza Set For Sensational Return

Speculation is mounting as to whether Rob Burch will even leave City or not this transfer window. During the Chesterfield game Burch responded to calls of 'sign the contract' with a swift thumbs up.... however this doesn't really mean he's staying or going.

However should he go LCM has heard rumour that a move for Imps legend and current Mansfield keeper Alan Marriott may be in line for a shocking return.

Although probably just internet based rumour, another site alluded to the fact he could be set for a return. His allegiance to the area wasn't ever in question and he turned down moves to league clubs from far afield to remain in the Lincoln area.

His prowess as a goalkeeper can also not be brought into question, he was an excellent shot stopper who perhaps sometimes didn't command his area as well as some might have liked.

However the board are well aware a return for Mazza might put a few extra bums on seats in the final five months of the season, culminating in a lucrative testamonial against Spurs at the end of the season.

LCM sources have further suggested that Mazza would consider a short term return in the event of Rob Burch departing, on the condition he gets his big ten year match at the end of the season, something Jacko denied him by releasing him just one season short.

Love him or loathe him few Imps fans could deny his sterling service to the club in the last decade. Any potential return to the club would be a widely appreciated move, although a small pocket of fans would voice their concerns at the move, claiming it would be 'sentiment over sense'.
