Evans played for the Imps' reserve team against Walsall this week and assistant boss Iffy Onuora, who worked with the player at Swindon, has revealed they hope to have another look at the former Wales under-19 international.
It is thought perhaps City will try and sign the player on loan.
"Defence is a position where we are a bit light" said Onuora.
"We're OK at the moment, but we're thinking of injuries. That's why we're looking at Tom."
