Destined for bigger things - Jack Hobbs
Hobbs was widely expected to join Arsenal until the Londoners tried to withdraw a sell on clause in the 16 year olds contract. However Arsene Wengers loss is Rafa Benitez's gain as Liverpool moved swiftly to take him on loan with a view to a potential £125,000 transfer in a weeks time.

Imps director Keith Roe was reported on teletext as saying "Liverpool made contact 10 days ago and have conducted themselves excellently throughout negotiations". It is understood by LCM that Liverpool will be including a sell on clause.

Hobbs transfer has been the surprise story of the summer for Imps fans. Despite only a handful of outings Hobbs seems to have attracted scouts from the very highest level as Man Utd, Bolton and Spurs also covet his signature. No doubt the lure of Champions League football swung his decision for him!
