Futcher decision baffles Imps boss

A look back at an horrific injury or a glimpse forward to next seasons Lincolnshire derby?
Futcher was one of ten players offered a fresh contract by Keith, and despite not letting the gaffer know whether he signing a new deal Boston Utd claim to have secured his signature. The news broke on Radio Lincolnshire around 10am today and brought much head scratching and bemusement across the county.

Futcher had claimed he wanted a move higher up the league spectrum having been linked with peterborough Utd and Oldham. However it seems that its a move down the league he desires as he's joined the Steve Evans circus at York Street. Just six months back Evans described the Imps as 'Land of The Giants', but now apparently Futcher will 'add height and a potency to our set piece attacks'. Interesting change of pespective Steve.

Keith himself is currently away on his holidays but he told redimps.com that he thought Futchers move showed 'a lack of ambition'. He added: 'the money being offered is clearly a factor in his decision'. Whilst Imps fans surely cannot begrudge Richard Butcher a move up the leagues a side shuffle by Futcher can only be seen as a cruel middle finger to the people who have catapulted Futcher from Conference nobody to League Two status defender.

Futchers move won't leave a massive gap in Citys rearguard. Recently capped Gareth McAuley will surely now partner Lee Beevers and Jamie McCombe at the back, hopefully bolstered by 'Captain Morgan'. Morgs has also been offered a new deal and City await his response. There is no doubt a Morgan move would be a harder one for the team to soak up.

Boston Utd have laready attempted to sign Gary Taylor Fletcher who was released by Keith last week. However Fletcher clearly has more scruples than Futch by confidently proclaiming 'I am not going there' in a recent interview with local press.
