Big Name Striker Poised To Sign

Messageboards are alive this morning with apparently confirmed sightings of a big name striker at Sincil Bank last night, adding fuel to the rumours that began circulating at Sunday's open day.

The gates at the ground opened late last night amid speculation that Steff Wright and a mystery player were being filmed by Look North on the pitch prior to the game. The interview had apparently over run, hence the late start. Of course this level of secrecy all adds up to a a potential big announcement. Stewards who witnessed the interview suggested that they player was 6ft ish with fair hair......

Step forward the player linked with Lincoln every season for the last five seasons - Michael Bridges.

Former Leeds and Sunderland striker Bridges has been training with Norwich, but lots of Imps fans are 100% sure they saw him yesterday prior to the 3-2 reverse against an Arsenal XI.

It's rumoured that Peter Jackson travelled on Sunday to convince Bridges that Sincil Bank is the place for him to ply his trade, and the sightings last night seem to confirm that the much discussed 'big name' striker might finally be coming.

Bridges has had a varied career taking in places such as Leeds and Hull as well as Sydeney and Carlisle. He has been blighted with injuries over the past few seasons, but seemed to have turned a corner last season after making 30 appearances for Carlisle, scoring seven times. His most succesful spells in front of goal were at Leeds (19 in 56 games) and at Carlisle first time around(12 in 23).

Bridges would certainly be the much talked about 'big name' fans have requested over the years, but it remains to be seen if there is any mileage in this latest rumour.
