Arsenal Star Hoyte Is Out For Fortnight

Last updated : 22 February 2011 By Neil Hobbs

Arsenal youngster Gavin Hoyte’s loan with the Imps will have to take a two week break after he sustained lateral ligaments to his knee against Chesterfield on Saturday. Gavin Hoyte left proceedings, coming off worse in a 50/50 with Djilali after just 10 minutes.

The injury however is not as bad as first feared with him likely to miss Barnet and Oxford; with a comeback against Accrington in two weeks the likely return date.

Gavin’s pace and power and positioning skills down a flank that had previously cost us dear, were a revelation as Tilson took a creaking helm. His ability and versatility saw him play at both centre and full back, showing a calm head as the Imps hit rock bottom only to rise like a phoenix from the fiery foot of the Football League.

The good news is he will be out for two weeks at the maximum ensuring we get plenty more performances from him prior to his return to the Emirates in May. Arsene Wenger has also been most praiseworthy of the rising standards in Leagues 1 & 2 suggesting we could see more Gunners stars coming our way next season, a route Steve Tilson will be keen to explore no doubt?

His bravery and the busy schedule have seen two injuries thus far, although on the positive side we can and will cope in his absence. The likely plan is for Kelly to drop back and play right back again on Saturday. This will mean Howell will move right and supply some additional stability on the flank leaving the scheme and the screamer –  Ali Kazam and Kaboom O’Keefe - in the middle.
