Trio Free To Leave

The expected New Year clear out has begun in earnest today, as Chris Sutton informs Aaron Brown, Richard Butcher and young Sam Clucas that they are free to leave the club.

The players names have been circulated to other clubs either for loan deals or permanent transfers - and for Brown and Butcher there are likely to be several suitors.

Just like the queues for Next on December 27th, lower league and non league clubs will be waiting to snap up a New Year bargain.

Rumours suggest Butcher may be wanted by Grimsby and possibly Mansfield Town, whilst Brown is a target for relegation rivals Cheltenham Town. Clucas however will have to drop into the local non league scene to make his name.

Butchers fall from grace has been spectacular under Sutton. He struggled for form in Jacko's early sides, and fell immediately out of favour with the new management. Despite his record for performing at this level, his third spell at the club looks all set for a sour end.

Brown is another who's face simply hasn't fitted. Last season he looked perhaps the most improved of the whole squad, but again Sutton has chosen not to utilise the widemans ability as much as Jacko. Brown struggled for form early on and simply hasn't been able to recover.
