According to reports coming from BBC Radio Nottingham, it has been announced Notts County have been put up for sale by mysterious owners Munto Finance.

Initial reports are indicating that director of football Sven Goran Erikkson may be interested in buying the club along with Chief Exec Peter Trembling, although these are only early reports.

Trembling had voiced concerns a week ago as the first chinks of discontent began to shine through the Munto wall:

"There are frustrations with the parent company, that cannot be denied, and they do need ironing out, and they are being ironed out," Trembling told Soccernet a week ago."

"Sven is most certainly being paid by Notts County, but other issues involving shares and payments linked to the parent company are issues for Sven rather than the football club. Sven is not about to walk out, but I cannot comment about issues outside of the football club."

However were Sven and Trembling to buy the club, it could be the best thing for County long term. Financial investment does need an air of sense about it, and LCM doubts that these two would be as grossly flash with their money as Munto.

Reasons behind Munto's decision to sell are unclear, but it comes on the back of news that QADBAK, the company behing Munto, are being investigated over possible links with a convicted fraudster.

With regards to any proposed Sven takeover, the BBC Nottingham sports correspondant had this to say:

"Eriksson, who wants to stay, and Peter Trembling are using their worldwide contacts to attract investors now that Munto Finance have lost interest," he said

"Eriksson would put money into the proposed takeover if it got County over the line. It would cost between £2m-3m to seal it and with gates up 250% this season and a wage bill that isn't out of control, insiders at the club are optimistic.

"But if Eriksson and Trembling can't pull it off, their positions at Meadow Lane would surely become untenable."
