McDonald seals Leeds switch

McDonald only signed a permanent contract in December, but the lure of a first team coaching role at Elland Road was too much to refuse.

McDonald made no secret of the fact he'd like to return to club management and the Head Coach role at a club like Leeds Utd will only boost his impressive coaching CV. Peter Jackson holds no grudges over his departure, telling the Imps official website:

"I'm obviously dispaointed to lose Neil as he has done an excellent job in the short time he has been here. I can't stand in his way as Leeds are a much bigger club and he goes with the best wishes from myself, the players and the fans."

The Imps will however recieve compensation from Leeds as McDonalds contract had been finalised, which will be a welcome boost. Steff Wright confirmed that City would recieve compensation but that this was 'only a small consolation'.

The hunt is now on for a replacement and Peter Jackson confirmed he has already drawn up a shortlist.
