LCM Salutes Simmo L 2 Manager of The Season?

Last updated : 02 May 2011 By Neil Hobbs

Hats off To former Imp and current Macclesfield Town manager Gary Simpson who wishes the Imps every success in their fight against the drop

We at LCM salute you Simmo - you have achieved nothing short of a miracle again this season at Macclesfield Town. Not only has he had to contend with the deaths of close friend Richard Butcher and Keith Alexander within the last year but he has also had to learn management at the sharp end.

With the smallest budget in the football League Gary Simpson took on the management burden alone, lifted moral and saved the club from relegation. This season he has rebuilt the team on a shoestring and again motivated the side through tragedy and the harsh financial realities of football.

How fitting that his latest gems have not only polished up well and thrived at the sharp end, but they have also proved that team spirit and T-E-A-M MACC are the Moss Rose amongst the thorns.  Simmo has also utilised a variety of formations to ensure the Silken have come up Roses home and away against sides with budgets 3-4 times their own. He has moulded a crazy gang spirit just like the Wimbledon team of old.

Outstanding Simmo, LCM salutes the modern League 2 manager personified. There should be a picture of you in the dictionary under persistence and optimism for the traits you possess truly inspire.

We all know where the League 2 manager of the year award is going, this year but if there was any justice it would be going to Moss Rose.
