Latest Reaction On Jacko Sacking

Firstly the bigs news is that Bob Dorrian, the director charged with finding a replacement for Peter Jackson has suggested Keith Alexander will not be applying for the job.

Dorrian told local radio:  "I think it would be difficult for Keith to revisit his former stamping ground. We don't expect him to apply and we have not approached him either."

Fans have been anti-Alexander since the suggestion was put forward he'd return, but no fan should sniff at a manager with five play off place finishes in five years at this level. Whilst LCM doesn't favour a move for him, he certainly isn't the weakest of the candidates.

Peter Jackson has told local media he was shocked at the sacking. "Two weeks ago if we had beaten Burton we'd have been joint top of the league, so the suddenness has taken me aback. In this profession it's all about results but it's only the first week in September so I'm still a bit shocked."

Meanwhile Iffy Onuora was philosophical in his weekly blog with football magazine 442. He said  "Well, when the chairman calls you early one Wednesday morning, three days after a lacklustre display at Dagenham and the morning after a narrow reverse against Darlington, you suspect it’s not for breakfast at Tiffany’s. "

"In truth, it’s hard to take. The Darlington result came only a fortnight after a 2-0 win against Bradford City left us seventh in the table and with many observers more than happy with the progress being made. But the bottom line in management is results, and once a vocal section had made their feelings clear, the end was nigh."

Captain Scott Kerr spoke of his surprise at the move saying in the local paper that "He had my full support, and the fact he has gone 5 games into the season seems like a rash move by the board."  Scotts comments will come as a surprise to Imps fans after his spat with lennel John Lewis on the pitch against Darlington where it appeared he was losing patience with the situation quickly.

News of potential candidtaes is sparse, but the names of John Ward, Gareth Ainsworth and Kettering boss Mark Cooper continue to be mentioned. As always LCM will bring you what we can.
