It been no secret that Jacko has been tracking the Hungarian centre half for several weeks now, but today it was confirmed that Jan Kovacs will be a City player next season, and he becomes the first signing in what is expected to be a busy week for City.

Kovacs initially joined Chesterfield from Hungarian side MTK Hungária in August 2005 following a trial with the club. His early form with Chesterfield wasn't great, recieving a red card in a game against Southend Utd.

Kovács joined York City on a month's loan in March 2007 and made his debut in a 0-0 draw with Forest Green. He scored in a 5-0 victory over Cambridge and finished his spell with the club with eight appearances and one goal. However despite impressing at York his loan was not extended and so hereturned to Chesterfield.

He was offered a new one-year deal with Chesterfield at the end of the 2006-07 season after the clubs relegation to League Two.

He finished last season with 43 appearances and two goals (one against City) for Chesterfield and was runner-up in the club's CFSS player of year award. He was offered a new contract, but as we know turned it down in favour of joinging Jacko's Imps revolution.

He may not be the only signing this week, with a goal keeper expected to sign. Many names have been mentioned but the Imps management are remaining tight lipped. So far we only know that his signing will be 'a surprise' and that its a name not previously mentioned on here.

In addition to this the Imps have Stuart Giddings on trial, although peter Jackson has confirmed he expects a left back to sign 'this week', and possibly another striker as well.
