Imps ladies offer free season tickets

Local girls who play football will be given free season tickets to watch their games at Sincil Bank - for more information email lady.imps@virgin.net.

Spokesman David Hill told Imps MAD: "The idea is to show any girls actively pursuing football as their chosen sport that there is a successful goal to achieve."

The club did the same deal last season, but were too late to get to schools before they broke up for the summer holidays - they have launched the scheme earlier this season.

The club have extended their offer to Newark, to try and capitalise on the new A46 Dual Carriageway link.

Hill said: "This means that Newark will only be about ten minutes away from Lincoln, which opens up a whole new fan base to the club. To celebrate the opening we decided to extend the free season ticket into Newark."

The scheme will be launched this week with the support of the Nottingham Evening Post and Lincs FM.

Last season the average attendance for the side was 500, peaking at 1500 for the visit of Oldham Curzon.

The future for ladies football in Lincolnshire is looking good, with the Imps Football In The Community scheme attracting 130 female players - compared to 20 last season.

Hill added: "The quality is first class, we have already picked out a few who are stars of the future.

"As far as aspirations for the future, it's fair to say that the jump from Combination to Premier League football is massive.

"A midtable finish last season was a good result with a team consisting mainly of U18 players.

"The experience was invaluable, and I would certainly expect a top-half finish this season."

At the Lincolnshire Show the ladies showed off the Lincolnshire County Cup, won by beating local rivals Scunthorpe United in the final, as well as holding a question and answer session with members of the team.

Pre-season friendlies against Nottm Forest, Leicester City, Everton and Doncaster Rovers Belles are in the pipeline but with dates still to be confirmed.

Confirmed friendlies so far:

Sunday July 27 - A against Ipswich Town (first team and reserve games)
Tuesday July 29 - H against Man City (men's and women's)
