Imps host Barnsley in Carling Cup

The home tie has been drawn this morning, and is a welcome return to Sincil Bank after last years away day extra time defeat by Derby County.

The Imps have played Barnsley before in this competition, notably shortly after Kevin Austin arrived at Oakwell. Austin broke his leg in a tackle in his first game back at Sincil Bank, and possibly never reached the heights his talents suggested he might.

Barnsley were almost relegated last season, surviving only after a 2-1 last day win over Plymouth Argyle. However with their youngest ever goalscorer Rueben Noble-Lazarus, and the dangerous Campbell-Ryce providing some pace, they will be a tough prospect at the Bank in early August.
