Imps get non league opposition in FA Cup

City have drawn Kettering Town, leaders of the Blue Square Premier League in the first round of the FA Cup.

The tie represents a real potential banana skin for The Imps, but is in sharp contrast to the opposition from the same time last year, Nottingham Forest.

Kettering were the only team to do the double over us in the GMVC in 1988, winning 1-0 at Sincil Bank on a Tuesday night, but twenty years on will the tables be turned?

The Imps have a terrible record in the competition, not reaching the third round for nine years now. The last time they made in, in 1999 they lost 1-0 at home to Premier League Sunderland.
