Imps Chasing International Star

Its being reported that the Imps are close to securing the loan signing of Northern Irish midfielder Michael O'Connor from Crewe..

Gudjon Thordarson has made the towering midfielder available on a loan and Jacko is keen to bolster that area of the park following Freck's move to Peterborough.

If the deal goes through he should be available for tomorrow's derby clash against Grimsby Town at Blundell Park, however Stockport are also chasing the player.

O'Connor is just 21 years of age, but stands an impressive 6'1. Last season he played 29 games for Crewe and scored 5 goals.

He was captain of the Northern Ireland under 18 team during 2004 UEFA Championships, and finally represented Northern Ireland last year.

However O'Connor has had persistent problems with his behaviour and attitude, hence his possible loan move to Lincoln. His most recent breach was allegedly turning up late for a team meeting, but he has also been warned for enjoying 'hospitality' in the bar before a game and phoning in sick over the festive period.

He gained a particular reputation for being a hell raiser alongside midfielder Gary Roberts before the latter left to join Yeovil.

It would appear Lincoln are getting another of those uncut diamonds. O'Connor has talent and ability in abundance but ultimately appears to be his own worst enemy.
