Peter Jackson has today revealed he is fighting throat cancer. The announcement came at the official unveiling of Assistant Manager Iffy Onuora at which local press were present.

The Imps chief revealed he had been diagnosed with the disease and needs to undergo radiotherapy, commencing in two weeks time and lasting initially for up to four weeks. It is expected Iffy Onuora will take charge of team affairs during Jacksons rehabilitation.

"I'm hugely disappointed, but I am strong enough to come through whatever comes my way" said Jackson.

"This is an important stage in my life, but I have the full support of my family, chairman board and players."

Fans have noticed Jackson has had a hoarse voice that hasn't got any better since his appointment, but it was generally thought to be thanks to his voiciferous approach on the touchline.

His illness isn't the first to hit the Imps, with ex manager Keith Alexander suffering from an brain anuerism a couple of years ago. He came through that and Jackson will no doubt have the same level of support from the football world as he overcomes his health scare as well.

Lincoln City Mad wish Jackson all the best and hope he experiences a speedy recovery.
