Gritton on target for new club

The striker was allowed to leave Sincil Bank on loan late last week, with Billy Dearden's struggling Mansfield side agreeing to take ‘Gritts' on loan until the end of the season.

His impact for the Stags was immediate, as Gritton – who only scored three times during his time at City –headed home a Matty Hamshaw cross in the dying moments of the Stags' unlikely 3-1 victory over Hereford United.

The 28-year old joined fellow debutant Barry Conlon in a new-look Mansfield attack, with both players securing a dream start to their Stags' careers with goals.

Conlon rifled home in the 17th minute after some hesitant defending from a play-off chasing Hereford side, before former Grimsby striker Michael Boulding doubled the advantage with 11 minutes remaining.
