The former Grimsby Town man has joined the Imps on loan for the remainder of the season.

Bloomer goes straight into the squad for Saturday’s clash with league leaders Plymouth Argyle and comes into contention with Grant Brown and Paul Morgan.

A clause has been included in his contract, which forces him to miss the end of season clash with Hull City at Boothferry Park.

The player made a total of 15 appearances for the Mariners, before joining Hull City on a free transfer in the summer of 2001. However, this term he has struggled to nail a place in the Tiger’s first eleven.

Buckley is an admirer of Bloomer and if the financial situation at the club permits, there is a possibility of signing the young lad permanently.

Matthew has been allocated the number 8 shirt.
