His father, Alan Buckley, managed both Lincoln and Grimsby and has previously been linked with the managers role at Glanford Park.
Adam Buckley followed his father to Lincoln in 2001, but has not featured regularly in the first team under current manager Keith Alexander.
Lincoln City have so far declined to comment on the matter.
