Adrian Patulea Joins Hereford - Thats No Bull

Last updated : 07 March 2011 By Neil Hobbs

Adrian Patulea has signed for Hereford until the end of the season with a view to a longer term deal in the summer.  Jamie Pitman has clearly seen enough and offered the Count a contract today  allowing him to rekindle a love affair with Janos Kovacs. In all seriousness Adrian has been doing well for the reserves in friendlies including  a brace against Cardiff City in a behind closed doors fixture recently.

Since agreeing a payoff with Leyton Orient our ex idol has really done the rounds taking in, amongst others, Barnet, Macclesfield Town, and latterly Cheltenham Town, although no offers were forthcoming

Adrian was of course idolised by the Imps with many citing the bust up with Janos as the beginning of the end.  Adrian is a passionate player as his loan spell at Hayes illustrated. In a lively debut Count Von Patulea pounced to score before being shown a red for violent conduct resulting in a 3-match ban.

This and the Janos bust up at the Imps are isolated incidents and not the main reason Adrian left the Imps. Peter Jackson and the Imps training ground team felt he did not really fit into the overall make up of the team and would quite often be seen as the one responsible for breaking up the build up play at key stages.  The players certainly and noticeably isolated him from passages of play.

That said goals are the stock and trade of a strikers Adrian grabbed 3 goals in 8 games for Hayes before returning to a prolific time in the Orient reserves.

The romance that began with him carrying his wife on his back around the training ground certainly soured but did not end their with the Janos spat it seems.   Given Adrian Patulea continues to show he has the gift in spades two former Imps will be unlikely to fall out whilst the win bonus is being shared. Then again that first 50 / 50 on the training ground could open a whole history of Eastern European rivalry.
