Sincil Super Saturday - Imps, Shrimpers, Unpaid Bills and Geezers Goin' Straight.

Last updated : 12 March 2011 By Neil Hobbs

The visit of Southend United this Sincil Super Saturday promises some spice to say the least. Stevie T is looking for three short term points and his severance pay from his ex employers in the medium to long term.  700 Seasiders, are eager to say a big thank you to their ex boss and witness a whistle stop win as the playoff express gathers momentum. But there's more footy fans, there's more with rehabilitation the name of the game this week, both on and off the pitch.

Leaving Ali aside, as most midfielders seem to, two alleged Shrimpers bad boys are also well up for this one. Lee Sawyer Tilson’s former enfant terrible, will want to get one over on Stevie T for his disciplinary stance.  Then we have Ryan Hall’s fortunate appearance on the pitch.  Despite being sentenced to imprisonment for affray, this weeks appeal sees Judge Black tick him off with a 12 week suspended sentence and 150 hours community service.

Talking of sub plots……………..

 The Teams & Schemes.......

Lincoln City 4-4-2

The Imps are set to be unchanged but Green and Scott Spencer should get more than a fleeting appearance today.  This one certainly comes too early for Keltie which suggests our middle two are again expected to duel with what looks to be a far superior trio.

Kelly     Hone   Watts   Hunt

Carayol  Fuseini    O’Keefe   McCallum

Grimes   Facey

 Southend United 4-3-3

Sturrock appears blessed and will go with a three pronged attack. Midfielder Ferdinand may recover from an ankle injury in time to play but fellow middleman Mohsni remains on the sidelines (ankle ligament damage).

Grant Easton Sawyer

The Imps V Shrimpers, playoffs aside is agame with some mixed and controversial results and memories. Of the 21 games played at the Theatre of the Absurd, The Mighty Imps have won 8, drawn 7 and lost 5 to Southend.

The last time the two teams met at Lincoln City was back in August 2004, with honours even in a controversial 1-1 draw. Gary Taylor-Fletcher, yes he of Blackpool fame converted notched a 9th minute lead after a 100 mile an hour counter. Francis Green pulled back to Blackwood who centred first-time. Yeo was just a nose hair from nodding in but Taylor-Fletcher powered home with a 6 yard header. Wayne Gray then won and converted a 34th minute penalty despite a heated protest. Giving chase to a  long ball, Gray was robbed by Marrioott who hammered into row Z for a throw. Despite Gray remaining on his feet referee Lewis  blew for a penalty. 3,991 saw the game with 251 visitors.

FootyMad's prediction ...

The Lincoln City Mad Panel approach this one with trepidation.

Neil - always have to go expecting us to get something - 1-0 to the mighty Imps

Vic Erzantarz - This is a tough  one with at best a draw if we can keep a clean sheet 0-0

Ivan Impgrass- Away win here I'm afraid, we need to pick those last 8 points up on batlefields elsewhere. And we will but 1-3 in this one.
