Speaking to exclusively to LCM, Schofield explained: “Having watched them several times; I know they're a well organised side playing reasonably well.”

“They played 4-4-3 on Tuesday night when I went to watch them but we're adaptable.

“We started with a 4-4-2 at the weekend, just until we got a base and then we switched to 4-3-3 which caused them (Peterborough United) a few problems.

“The thing is with our personnel, we can change formations without having to make substitutions.

“We've looked for that flexibility since pre-season.”

The Imps' boss also spoke of his admiration for The Magpies' manager, Steve Thompson.

“I played with Thommo when he was a player the first time, then I was also his captain when he was the manager here.

“I know what a good professional he is and I expect his players to be.

“I think he's done a fantastic job. He's fetched fourteen or fifteen players in, thrown them together and got them to gel as a team.

“People underestimate how difficult that task can be.”

Lincoln go in to the game with no new injury worries.

“There are one or two little niggles but I expect everybody to be ready and raring for the weekend.”

This could leave the City management team spoilt for choice in his team selection, with the arrival of four players in the January transfer window.
