Imps To Make The Brewers Droop - Its The Teams & Schemes

Last updated : 08 March 2011 By Neil Hobbs

The Imps need to get back to winning ways according to Stevie T, but bouncing Burton Albion may not be the side to do it against.  Not only have we failed to beat them in our three games but we have also failed to even hit the back of their net at either Sincil Bank or the House of Rubber.

Bogey side? Perhaps, but then the Brewers have not had the best of luck with strikers having lost Harrad, Collins and now Zola to injury. Promising 20 year old marksman, Nialle Rodney, joined on loan from Forest today to stop the rot that has seen then go from playoff contenders to 22nd in the league, despite 5 games in hand.

The teams & Schemes

Burton Albion 4-4-1-1

Nialle Rodney has come in on a one month loan from Forest on a one-month loan deal as cover for Calvin Zola who has been ruled out for a month with a hamstring tear. Rodney looks set to replace Pearson up front tonight.  Ten goal midfielder Aaron Webster is also fit and set to start on the left. There are some defensive woes with Stanton and Scott Malone, in on loan from Wolves, both out. New signing Simon Whaley looks set to start.

 Lincoln City 4-4-2

The Imps are unchanged with Mustapha Carayol hoping for some better service in his quest to show us his wing wizardry and genius.  Fuseini and O’Keefe should hopefully provide a few more bullets for both our wingers against a four man midfield.  Grimes and Facey are set to start up front but both Hutchinson and Spencer will be hoping for at least half an hour to prove themselves with contract renewal season just 2 months away.

History of the Burton Albion v Lincoln City fixture

We have only played Burton Albion three times and have yet to come away with all three points. It gets worse, despite one draw and two defeats we haven't even scored against them yet. The only previous meeting between Burton Albion and Lincoln City at The Pirelli Stadium was last season,  the Brewers carving out a narrow 1-0 victory in a League Two match. Cleveland Taylor  struck a sweet close range  volley to convert  Tom Parkes cross after just  55 seconds last season. Despite persistent Imps pressure we flattered to deceive with Anderson coming closest with a long range effort.  339 Imps took in a new ground with 2109 in attendance overall.

Recent respective form guides

Burton Albion have lost just once in their last six home games, winning four and drawing the other one. A total of 11 goals have been scored by the Brewers in those games, with 7 conceded.  Lincoln City's away form is impressive, with just the one defeat in six and  four wins,  scoring 13 goals for and  conceding 11.

Burton Albion may have these games in hand but they need to start winning them after sliding down the league like a lapdancer down a greased pole. I will refrain from a Brewers droop analagy - ooops.

LCM Pundits Prediction

Neil - The Imps will end this bogey team fallacy with a comfortable 2-0 win away from the Sincil spotlights.

Vic Erzantarz - Back to winning ways with the magical Mustapha the star 3-1 Imps

Ivan Impgrass - Going to sit on the fence as usual, 22 games since the Brewers have had a score draw so 2-2 for me.

Although Lincoln City have been far from successful in recent away games, we can see nothing other than an easy victory for them against Burton Albion. Away win
