Imps Big Bank Rise At Barnet's Expense

Last updated : 07 May 2011 By Neil Hobbs

Well it’s simple then we win against Aldershot, right here right now. At 5 we will be laughing all the way at The Bank irrespective of the Barnet result. We don’t want to take things too lightly but if we go out all guns blazing Aldershot will crumble as Burton and Bradford have shown with 2-1 wins over our visitors in the last 2 weeks.

Old Imp Louis Dodds hat trick for Vale, Barnet’s opponents, suggests he will have as much to say on the slope as Dean Holdsworth’s Shots attempt to do his Wimbledon buddy Sanchez a massive favour here at Impdom’s heart.. That will be something with our heroes backed by a huge crowd baying for a Bacchanalian at the Bank

The Imps v Shots hot spots

The Imps have only played Aldershot 38 times in all but just 5 times since their return from the dead. Under their previous guise we had won just 3 and lost 6 of the 16 at the Bank, but now we stand at 1-1 with this the ultimate decider in every sense of the word it seems.  Last season saw a vital 1-0 win lift us up to 18th in the table and three points clear of the relegation places.

Chris Suttons first game in charge saw a 4-5-1 formation grind out a hard earned and much needed three points. It was also Sergio Torres first goal as he turned in Richard Butchers through ball courtesy of some sweet feet. Butcher was brilliant in an advanced role behind Howe as was Torres and a resilient defensive display.  (Att 4,131 with 250 Shots fans)

Recent respective form guides

Do we really want to do the Imps home form given this is a cup final? Thought not Aldershot are fired up enough with the Holdsworth / Sanchez connection. Aldershot’s form over the last 5 games suggests the Imps will get at least the draw, but it is the win we need, to guarantee our survival, should Barnet win.  After winning 4 and drawing 4 in an unbeaten previous 8 the Shots are reassuringly misfiring.  With just one win, 3 draws and 2 losses in their last 6 against lowly opposition they have finished in mid table after flirting with the playoffs.

FootyMad's prediction ...

Neil - 1-0 To The Mighty Imps

Dr Sincil Drone - 3-0 to the Imps

Vic Erzantarz Unless anyone sees a Commanche today it is a 2-1 win to the Imps for me.

Ivan - This will not be popular but I see a 0-0 draw with it all resting on a slippery slope at Barnet.
